Rockingham Remembered
The Christmas Page
What - No-El?

Annie and I went to the Church's seniors'
lunch and program today.  The lunch was
great. The program, Christmas singing by
the Senior choir, was wonderfully
entertaining.
When persons who have  December
birthdays were recognized, the audience
seemed astounded that one in their midst
was 88 years old; that person being I.
This is the first, I hope not the last, time I
have been recognized as old --evincing
mixed emotions for me.

One of the carols performed in the
program has provided me with the seed
for this E-Mail.
What might be in a name of a Christmas
carol that would impress me?  "Some
have it, some don't have it." Even in the
Bible we find the same condition; some
do, some don't. Genesis does not show it,
Revelation does once. In the New
Testament Luke is the only one of the
Gospel writers who had it; Paul had it at
the end.

In our Sunday School class, I note that
our teacher, Rachel, has finally got it.
Class President Jack does not have it,
but wife Liz has had it from the beginning.
Kenny Hall has it double, and Irene got it
from him at last. Carolyn has it too,
somewhere along the way. Sad to say,
perhaps, but several of our classmates
do not have. it -- Ruth, Ted and Joanne,
Gary and Mona, John and Mary. Avonelle
has it twice, at least. Annie did not have it
until she married a Campbell, then she
ended up with a double load.

Ah, those Christmas Carols!  The one in
my mind at the moment!
