John P. Little House (Calvin M.
Little House)

John Phillips Little (1827-1905) belonged to a prominent northern Richmond
County family founded by his father, Thomas Little (1781-1855). The elder
Little immigrated to North Carolina from England in 1806 and acquired a
knowledge of cotton cultivation as overseer on one of Henry W. Harrington
Sr.'s Anson County plantations. Subsequently he rose to become one of the
region's wealthiest cotton planters. To read more about this historic site in
