| A Note of Gratitude From The Mayor of Rockingham, Eugene McLaurin, II |
Thanks, Mayor, for the kind words. As you can see from the photo below, I am proud
to wear the shirt you sent with the Rockingham insignia on it. I grew up in Rockingham
and have special memories of being raised in a small, southern textile town in North
Carolina. My goal with the website I created, RockinghamRemembered.com, was to
allow any and all to share their memories with others of growing up there and the
surrounding counties. I still have memories and stories that will be posted from time
to time and hope all will enjoy them. I feel this is the least I can do for a town that I
remember dearly as a child. Hopefully others will dig into their memories of
yesteryear and also into their photo albums for items from the past that can be
posted here for all to enjoy. I am sure there are literally hundreds of old photos of
old Rockingham that can be found in peoples attics, basements, shoeboxes, etc., that
are just waiting to be exposed to other generations. Joel Bailey
