| Recognize This 9 Year Old Kid?...Bet You Do It's Rockingham's own Mayor - Gene McLaurin...I was in Rockingham recently visiting my mother-in-law, Billie Watson. She pulled this old newspaper clipping she found and thought I might want to share it with the viewers of this website. Looks like the Mayor started out right, playing Tee Ball. I remember Tee Ball also - bet a lot of the viewers do. I'm assuming this was somewhere in the middle 1960s. There is an apartment complex on the site now where the picture was taken...it was known then as Watson Park. My coaches were Coach Dawkins ( Mike's dad) and Coach Lester Norton ( Jerry and Jeff's dad). I believe Mr. Dawkins has passed away but I still see Lester Norton from time to time. |
