| Reincarnated Water a poem written by Lane Hudson |
The dance teacher knew the shy boys on the boat Weren’t ready to dance on water, so He splashed childlike on the giant puddle. But in His heart, He danced in His own sweet Jesus way, probably a disco or country 2-step beat, just not with His feet. I learned the dance step cadences: - in my wife’s honeymoon bed; - in my baby girl’s first heartbeats; - in my father’s nicotine coughing; & the endless questions of my Alzheimer mother. Dancing on waters requires courage, Especially without a lifejacket, & people are watching & you may sink. (How deep is the water?) Channel 4’s chatty blonde through perfect teeth predicts more storms tonight -- leaving 2,000 year old reincarnated water standing on my concrete driveway, so I can do a sweet Jesus dance, To my car before parting the waters Like Moses’ with steel-belted tires. |
