| The Rockingham Hotel, at the southeastern corner of Washington and Hancock Streets, was sold for dismantling in 1974. Top photo - the hotel in October 1974, before the dismantling began. Middle photo - the hotel being torn down in November 1974. Bottom photo - the vacant lot left in late November 1974, after the hotel was torn down. First Union National Bank now occupies that corner (in 1984). |
