Joel Bailey, How in the world are you. I was checking out the Richmond
County Genealogy site and came across your web page. I was going through
your site and it brought back memories that I had long forgotten. Some sad
and some fond.
Remembering Pee Dee church that I attended in ??59 to 63. Remembering
riding with Johnny Shepherd while he drove his dads Pontiac at high speeds
while everyone was still in church on a Sunday morning. Remembering the
school bus ride from 220 to Five Points then through Pee Dee at break neck
speeds. And of course Jimmy Baucom and the McKenzies. Of course I have
to mention the crush that I had on so many cute girls.
Anyway the last time I heard you were in Jacksonville Fl as a dispatcher
with the CSX.
My son Tommy McPhatter lives in North Raleigh. I travel there to visit
often.
I currently live in Laurinburg and work in Fayetteville as a Safety Manager
with a trucking company.
Well hope to hear from you.
Jim (Jimmy) McPhatter

Hey Jim
It is great to hear from you. Glad you happened upon my website. How many
- 40 years or more since the good 'ole days?
There were some crazy times back then - the old Pee Dee church, leaving
church and riding around with Johnny and others, riding the bus through
those winding roads through Pee Dee, Jimmie Baucom, his sister Alice, and
all the other past rememberable happenings.
I was with CSX - from Hamlet to Tampa but the old heart gave me a little
problem, so I am now retired.
So good to hear from you.
If you have any memories to share, please send them along.
Take care and looking for a reply
Joel

I have been out of touch with everyone that I had went to school with. Yes
Jimmy Baucom has a sister named Alice.
I remember when my dad and her dad worked together. One day when I
was about 15 years old I was with my dad at her house. She was a little
sneeky and asked me without any one hearing her "asking did I still love
her". I was standing near my dad and was I embarassed. I never did give
her a reply.
I think Jimmy is now a Manager with Lowes in Matthews. Matter of fact I
just called her (she is employed at the Watson King Funeral Home) to let her
know and to pass onto Jimmy Baucom your web page info. She is still a honey.
How long have you been in Cary now. How many children do you have. Any
grandkids. I have been in Laurinburg since 1991, married for the third time.
My wife is Lu Ann Boling, she graduated from a high school in Wilmington. I
have a daughter that is 11 years old name Jessica. It seems that my son
Thomas McPhatter by my first marrage was a friend to your son or someone
that was a Bailey. He graduted from RSH in 1991. He is employed as
Regional Manager with Aerotek there in Raleigh.
I was looking for a old photograph of a few guy that were in Ms Goodman's
home room class when we were in the 9th grade. I remember Allen Sneed,
Guy Trexler, Frank Hawkins and a few others.
When I am in Raleigh I would like to stop buy for a few minutes to visit.
I am at work and spending to much time on the net today. Since today is
almost shot, I will have to double up tomorrow.
I am working in Fayetteville, NC employed with Taylor Express as their
Safety Manager which I also function as the HR manager. We currently
employee over 150 truck drivers that are domocile in 6 states.
I plan to work until I drop or 70 which ever comes first.
Its great to hear from you. If you ever get to Fayetteville call me, we can
do lunch.

The last I knew about Jimmy was that he had gotten into the Dry Cleaning
business and was out west somewhere. It's a coincidence he works with
Lowes now - my son Shannon works with Lowes and just got promoted to
Sales Manager with Lowes in Clayton. Hopefully Jimmy will check out the site.
I have 3 children - daughter Sandi that lives in Raleigh and works with the
Town of Cary, married and divorced with no children - son Shannon married
and lives closeby in Apex with 4 children - and daughter Crystal that will
turn 14 on the 26th and lives here in Cary with me and my wife.
Your son Thomas might have known my son Shannon. I'll ask him later on
today.
I remember the Sneads too and Guy and Frank. Do you remember the night
Guy wrecked his Chevy on the curve below my house? That took his life and
just about took Rick and Frank's also.
If you find any old photos, I would love to put them on the site. And if you
are ever in this area, look me up.
I was figuring to be with the RR until I was 65 or so, but it didn't work out
that way. But I figure most things happen for a purpose. The second heart
attack I had while I was in Tampa/St Pete got me out of a job I wasn't too
happy with.
Now I work on my website and also keep up the website at my church.
Anyway, keep in touch and if you are ever up, hollow at me.
Joel
