Subject: Rockingham Remembered

Hi Joel,

I just took a trip down memory lane.  My brother, Mike Coble, ran into
someone at the flea market on 220 in Rockingham on Saturday. They told
him about your website.  He was so excited.  He told me about it at
church yesterday.  I am at my office and just found this treasure chest
of memories.  We Coble children were Paul and Virginia Coble's "brood".

My name is Pat.I am a Smith now and a grandmother of 3.  In the 1954
picture I was 4 yrs old and I'm the 1st little girl on the 1st pew with
her hand over her mouth and nose.  At that time there were 5 children
in the family.  Four of us are in the picture on different rows.  My
sister Brenda is listed as #8 Faye Coble, but her name is Brenda.  Faye
was a 1st cousin but her last name was Hogan.  My Uncle Harvey Hogan
is in some of the pictures.  His wife, Aunt Esther is also in one of the
pictures but not identified.  Aunt Esther was my dad, Paul Coble's sister.

I remember that Easter Sunday well.  Our family was not in the 1953
photo, but in the 1954 one.  It was during that year that both Mama
and Daddy got saved and we started going to church with my Uncle Sam
and Aunt Nealie, who were the parents of Josephine, Hazeline, Hilda,
Theresa, Edna, and Lucille.  I have printed these pictures out, hope
that's ok, because all of my uncles and aunts are deceased and this is so
wonderful.  There is a great blowup that has my mom, dad, and my
mama's brother and sister in it.  I can give you some names to go along
with the faces if you would like.  Oh, by the way, the Pee Dee Church
gave us all a good foundation.  There's a total of 8 children born of Paul
& Virginia Coble.  Mike pastors The Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church
where most of us attend.  All eight children are Christians are married
to Christians.  Our oldest sister, Brenda never married and is in a
nursing home facility at this time.  I followed in mama's footsteps and
teach the Adult SS class.  Uncle Sam had the opportunity to visit our
church before he passed away and was so proud to have a SS teacher in
the family.  He has a SS class named in his memory at the Pee Dee
church.  (It has a different name now).

Again thanks for the memories,
Pat Coble Smith
