| Woods 5 & 10 Cent Stores - Johnny's Truck Stop -Do You Remember? written by Patricia (Patsy) Goodwin Caulder |
| Hello! My name is Patricia (Patsy) Goodwin Caulder. I just finished reading the information about Wood's 5 & 10 wirtten by Sara McD. Poston. I too worked with Wood's spanning a total of 26 years. Sara and I worked together for a number of years in the home office. She eventually went on to another line of work and I remained on until the company went out of business. I worked for every President the Wood's company ever had. Each time I pass the warehouse/general office building on US #1 South, I have good memories that flood through my mind. We had a tremendous sense of "family" among the store personnel, warehouse personnel, and general office personnel. I thoroughly enjoyed my years working with this "hometown" chain of stores. I would do it all over again! Thanks for the memories!!! Another memory that folks might remember is Johnny's Truck Stop on Highway 74 West. Most everyone in this county, from the 40's through the late 60's, knew where Johnny's Truck Stop was and most people ate there during these years. I am proud to be able to tell you that my Mother and Father were the owners of Johnny's. I have memories there also that I would not trade for anything. Thanks for the memories Rockingham !!!!
