Joel,
I'll make an effort this week to inform you this week what's been going on with me since ' 66 but that you should know that Buck Blakley [ ' 66 ] passed away a couple of years ago.Buck worked as a fireman at Camp McKall. I think cancer or tb was the cause of death. His sister, Betty [Blakley] Gilstrap is on your Email list. I'm sure she would give you details to share with others.
Buck and I started together at Roberdel in the 1st grade. Buck and I didn't have any classes together in high school buy I knew he had my back and I had his. There was no slip knot in the Roberdel tie that binds! He'll always be the tall [in fact, the tallest in my class @ Roberdel] skinny kid with the perfect jet-black flat-top I could always count on.The buck always stopped with Buck. Once a dear friend; now a dear childhood memory from growing up in Rockingham !!!
I live in Hope Mills, have been married to the same wonderful woman for 33 yrs. 7 mos. and 24 days [but who's counting]. Sally is a country girl from Deep Run. I am fortunate to be so happily married since she is a Regional Consultant with the North Carolina Child Enforcement Program. We have 3 beautiful daughters. Natalie is a 23 yr. old college student; Meredith, a 15 yr. old high student and Robin a 12 yr. old middle school student.
I graduated from N.C. State with a B.S. in Textile Technology. Never thought the textile industry would basically disappear from NC. I've been a car salesman for the last 10 yrs. with Crown Ford in Fayetteville. Send all our classmates my way; I still have two who haven't started college. My motto: WALK IN, RIDE OUT!!!
