subject: The Satelite Band
Hi! I am Richard (Dick) Monroe from the RHS Class of 1962.
This is my first visit to your interesting web site. I thought that I
would add an additional comment or two to the email sent in by
Larry Cassidy. I was one of the original members of the Satellite
Band formed in 1957. The band then included Rodney Benson
(founder) on guitar, Ted Sellers on guitar, Ronnie Yates on
drums, and yours truly as the lead vocalist. We performed twice
at the Teen-Age Club at the old library, once on WBTV in
Charlotte for the Teen Canteen Program, in high school talent
shows, etc. I left the band in 1960, and new band members
were added. It was a fun experience, and one that I will never
forget.
