Subject: slim mims
My name is Larry Cassidy, I'm from Rockingham and I remember Slim
Mims very well. When I was in the 11th and 12th grades in school, I
played in a rock and roll band called the Sattalites. Band members were
Rodney Benson, Ronnie Yates, Ted Sellers, Brent Varner, Jimmy Newman
and myself.
We used to play for Slim at the Old Oprey House in Darlington SC. We
also played for him at a Crompton Homes opening one weekend. He put
us up in the old Darlington Hotel.
We thought we were hot stuff. It was a pleasure just knowing Slim
Mims. He was a very good person to us. To a bunch of teenage boys, we
were
just thrilled to know him.
