subject Our many thanks
Hello Joel,
My name is Darryl Scheiwe (Shy-Vee) I am a retired firefighter. (28 years
service) I live with my wife Denise and youngest son 22, one of six children; we
have 15.5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. We live in Caboolture,
Queensland, Australia. About one hours drive north of Brisbane, on acreage.
Before the fire service I was a construction supervisor, prior to that a bricklayers
labour. Before that a Professional Football Player, after finishing my trade as
Cabinetmaker. Denise was a Chiropractor and Naturopath for many years, until
circumstances dictated that she give up professional work.
We just thought we would send a personal email to you, once again thanking you
for your website. Visiting your website has jogged many memories of our younger
years, as we imagine it has for a lot of people who grew up and lived in
Rockingham. As it turns out we have two Rockinghams in Australia. One in the
East State and one in the West state, of the country. We spent our younger years as
country kids, being born and bred in the country, and loved every minute of that
existence.
I went to at a little country school of approx 45 students about 2.5 miles from
home. Sometimes I would ride a push bike and other times ride my horse,
depending on how hard he was to catch on the day. Life in the country was a good
existence, we worked hard but there wasn’t too much stress. Just good fresh air
and good wholesome food. All I wanted to do was work and stay in the country,
but it was decided I should go to the city and get a trade which I did and the rest
you know.
The school Denise went too was about 2 miles from her home, her family must not
have been as well off as mine as she had to walk the 2 miles to school and home
again. Denise’s dream was to become a doctor, had the ability to do so but because
of fiancés and a decision by her dad her dream was not fulfilled.
Anyhow that’s just a bit of history on us.
We are so appreciative of your website and what it has done for us, our friends
and Ruthie. We can’t thank you enough.
