I?ve likewise tried to get more information and e-mailed the Rockingham newspaper a while back to see if they had any information/reviews they could share. I never got a response from them. I?d really be interested in a lineup of the bands that played earlier in the day. I recall distinctly that Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher played AFTER Alice Cooper (who was flown off in a helicopter and I recall him hanging out of the chopper). I grew up in Wadesboro so it was a short drive for us. There was quite a large contingent of Anson County folks in attendance. I actually e-mailed Rory Gallagher?s bass player a few days ago to try to get his recollections (haven?t heard from him yet but hopefully I will soon). Thank you for your efforts to research this ?forgotten festival?. It?s a little surprising there is so little information available about it. I recently got a book off E-bay about Joe Jackson playing minor league baseball in south Georgia after his banishment from major league baseball and I think the Peachtree Festival would be worthy of similar research. I?d love to be able to read about the promoter and the performers and the events leading up to the show (I recall the lineup of artists changed fairly significantly). I actually have a partially torn ticket stub but would love to have some other memorabilia from the shows. I wonder if items such as posters even still exist! I graduated from the old Wadesboro Bowman High School in 1974. I then graduated from N.C. State in 1978 and Wake Forest School of Medicine in 1982. In my younger days, I frequented Richmond County establishments such as the Point After. When I was only nine years old, I was picked up by my ears by the current coach of the Richmond County football team (Ed Emory) and it probably did me some good. I?ve lived in Jacksonville Florida since 1985 (and I pull for the Jaguars but did pull for the Carolina kitties in the Super Bowl). A couple of years ago, I treated a pleasant gentleman for severe asthma in a local homeless clinic. He was from Richmond County and had graduated the same year I had. I should have asked him if he had any Peachtree stories! Keep up the good work and please keep me on your e-mail list. Perhaps some of the performers could be contacted to see if they would provide recollections (I know, probably 98+% of the performers and attendees were a little ?foggy? that day). Fred Frederick C.
